The Misty Copeland Foundation’s mission is to provide dance education for communities with limited resources. Recently, the organization launched Be Bold to make ballet accessible to children.


Be Bold, located in New York City began its first season fall 2022. Sindy Folgar explains that the goal is to impart valuable life lessons through an art form that has been around for centuries but that most people have never experienced.

Be Bold’s instruction is developed in partnership with child psychology to ensure that students learn self awareness, empathy, social understanding, decision-making skills, and other important life skills. Folgar states, “these are all things we need right now.” She says that despite being a relatively new organization, “we can already see the changes” in her students.
