Fans speculated for a while, but it finally happened. Stranger Thing’s Noah Schnapp has confirmed his character’s queerness.
The young actor told the story Variety Will is gay, and has feelings towards his best friend Mike (Finn Wolfhard).
“Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. It was a slow progression. I think it is done so beautifully because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay,” Schnapp, 17, told the outlet.
Fans have been discussing Will’s potential queerness since season four of the hit Netflix show came out in May. However, when previously asked about Will’s sexuality, Schnapp told Variety that it was “up to the audience’s interpretation.”
Schnapp revealed that the series has actually been building Will’s queer storyline since the show’s beginning.
