According to police sources, Anne Heche was driving under the influence of cocaine when her car crashed into a Los Angeles residence last Friday.
Heche’s car and the home caught fire, leaving the actress with severe burns for which she remains hospitalized.
According to Los Angeles Police Department sources, a test of Heche’s blood at the hospital revealed that she had cocaine in her system. The blood also tested positive for fentanyl, a strong pain reliever, but that is sometimes administered at hospitals, so it’s unclear if Heche had consumed it before the crash. According to police sources, she was not impaired by alcohol.
Heche’s condition is “dire” and “has not improved” since Friday, TMZ reports, noting that she is “fighting for her life.” It was reported earlier this week that she is in a coma.
Heche is Ellen DeGeneres’ ex-partner. Heche has been an actress for over 30 years, appearing in many soap operas and prime-time TV shows.
