Protecting and caring for your skin during winter months is a must. The weather is chillier and because the sun may not be out and as hot as it was in the summer, it surely doesn’t mean you should get relaxed about your skincare regimen. 

It doesn’t matter what season it is, self-care for your skin should be a priority. Creams with ceramides and petroleum-based skin protectants are also effective. Although it’s nice to experiment during a change in season, let’s be real: cold weather is tough on skin! These six tips will help you keep your skin protected in winter.

#1 Apply Sunscreen

If it’s not ingrained in your memory by now, here is a kind reminder to always wear your sunscreen. Your skin can be seriously damaged by the sun and the glare of the snow in winter. Our skin should be protected as much as we can, but still allow it to breathe and receive the nutrients that it needs to thrive.

Always apply sunscreen to your skin and hands, if applicable, at least 30 minutes before you venture outside. If you’re outside for a long time …., you can always apply sunscreen again if necessary
